Too good to be true? Scammers on Craigslist

We’ve been renting here in Boston since we moved here last year. We have wonderful landlords and an amazing space. Unfortunately, rent is going up soon. So, I decided to poke around on Craigslist to see what else our money might get us. I’d like to create a little wiggle in the budget to be begin with.
I responded to one that seemed too good to be true. And it was.
Below is the response from the Nigerian scammer. Here is a PDF of some research on why Nigerian scammers are so obvious. Hat tip to Lifehacker.com; here is their explanation. If all you need are dummies, create a dummy trap!
Hello Dear,
It’s my great pleasure that you are interested in our lovely 3br/2ba home for rent. I am Rev Roland Eavey owner of this home. Actually we resided in this home before and presently we have packed out due to me and my wife transfer as a matter of my profession on a campaign tagged”Empowering the Widow and the Needy”… And my wife who is a missionary dealing with Bible Translation and literacy worldwide.
We will be serving for a long term and now our home is locked up now and presently we have found a new home here which we will be staying for a very long term which might last 10 years in West Africa, NIGERIA and presently our lovely home is still available for rent for ($950) as your monthly rent including the utilities like washer, dryer, fireplace, fenced backyard, internet access and garage…
While the deposit fee ($500)  and your first month rent fee ($950) comes up as the first down payment and move in fee which you will make to receive the keys and other necessary documents that you will use in moving into our home,so after the payment the keys and other documents will be send to your full home address provided in the filling out of your application form via FedEx. So as soon as you receive the keys and documents you can move in at your own convince time. I was just shipped back my keys due to the fact that i lost my mother in a car accident and she has been the one showing the place and that is the reason why i have the keys here with me.
More so,Now that we are on a retreat program over here. Please I want you to note that all we will want is a very honest and caring person, so i will solicit for your absolute understanding and maintenance of this home and want you to treat it as your own,I hope that is taken. The money is not the main problem but i want you to keep it tidy and clean always. I also want you to let me have trust in you as i have always stand on my word.
NOTE: My mother was the one in charge of showing my house before and it was due to her lost that was why my keys are being shipped to me because the REALTOR I used after her lost are just after there commission. They once rented my house to some family that didn’t take good care of it for me and got things damage which cost me alot to get it fixed back so that’s the reason why am handling my property myself.

Update – Another Scammer Response (different property):
How are you? Thanks for the interest in my House, my house is still available for rent quite and safe. I only need someone that can take good care of the house at my absence because right now am not around, we have just move down to WEST AFRICA due my Transfer to WEST AFRICA with my Entire Family as a Missionary Worker  as a very Good christian, which i will not be back until after 6years. And am here with the house keys and documents, i tried to look for management before i left but i couldn’t get any in time.
But the one i got we got a deal, but later my wife advised against that. I reasoned with her and accepted her advise. So I contacted the agent back and let him understand that i am no longer interested in handling the property to him anymore. So later we decided to have the house rent out, we would have give the agent this job also but the truth of the matter is that the agent would want to handle it professionally and the occupant may not be able to reason along with him later. If you notice, you will discovered that the price we are offering is far below standard price, this is enough for you to know that we are not after the rental fee but the absolute perfect care of the property. So If you know that you have a  good credential you can email me back to secure and occupy my house at my absent.
NB: You can drive by and check the neighborhood and get back to me for further discussion, any sign post will be removed once i get any responsible tenant so you ignore the sign post cause i have stop dealing and contacting the Realtor for too much fees i pay. It is available for a long term lease as we will be here for 6years and also intend buying a new home on getting back to the states.
