Data Use, Technology, and Educational Leadership
My weekend reading: Assessment as a Policy Tool by Laura Hamilton. So far, this book chapter is the nerdier version of Braun and Mislevy’s article in PDK on the problems with relying on everyday notions about assessment when dealing with big complicated test. It has less zingers and is for an academic audience, but I’ve been a fan of Laura’s work for some time.
This looks like it’ll provide a nice review of the history of large scale assessment, how to promote classroom assessments within this context, and what kinds of information we should and shouldn’t be gleaming from particular kinds of data.
